Virtual Wildfire Workshops

Join wildland fire stakeholders throughout the nation and attend a series of interactive virtual workshops featuring subject matter experts.

This format provides a rare opportunity to learn from leading researchers and practitioners. Participants can attend the live session directly from their kitchen table or home office, or download the recorded version – the choice is yours! Brew some coffee and invite your neighbors to join you in learning how to reduce the wildfire risk in your community!

Each workshop is posted right here following the virtual event for viewing by those unable to attend the live interactive session(s).

Summer 2014 Workshops:

Dr. Stephen Quarles is the featured presenter and “Ask an Expert” for both the July and August sessions/topics.  Steve is a senior scientist with the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety where he assists with research on building performance with regard to wildfire and moisture exposures. Prior to joining IBHS, Steve was with the University of California where he addressed durability and in-service performance issues of wood-frame buildings, particularly those subjected to wildfires.

The one-hour interactive agenda includes a presentation from Dr. Quarles along with a live “Ask an Expert” segment where pre-selected homeowners have an opportunity to ask a question related to the session’s topic.  This unique learning format provides wildland/urban interface homeowners with information on how to implement important mitigation modifications at their homes.  Participation is limited to 100 “live attendees” so please register ASAP – we anticipate sessions will fill quickly.
