Fire Safe San Mateo County is looking for an Executive Director to provide leadership and management to coordinate fire safe meetings, develop and implement fundraising and outreach strategies including grant writing, assistance in coordination of fuel reduction projects and interface with the Board of Directors. This is a contract position for an individual working from his or her home and involves monthly meetings with partners and fire safe members.
Fire Safe San Mateo County (FSSMC) is a newly re-organized pending 501(c)(3) non-profit organization composed of individuals, public and private agencies whose mission is to maintain the quality of life and property for the citizens living in the wildland urban intermix zones (WUI) of San Mateo County. Working together we can achieve effective fire protection education and planning in the WUI. The key elements of the Mission are to reduce hazardous vegetation in WUI communities and create and maintain defensible space around structures. Our programs also focuses on the education of citizens regarding fire hazards, fire behavior and structure ignition through the guidance of local agencies.
FSSMC has received federal/state grants for Hazardous Fuel Reduction work to help protect homes and communities from wildfire and to provide Community Outreach and Education activities. These programs and other council activities are also funded in part by private grants and donations from organizations, companies and individuals.
